We look forward to seeing you very soon in Bangalore for the 23rd International Conference of Raman Spectroscopy. The following information may prove useful as you prepare for your journey to Bangalore.

1. Please carry your passport along with a copy of the invitation letter.
2. The Indian Currency is the Rupee. 1 USD ≈ 55 Rupees We recommend that you convert your currency to Indian Rupees in your own country or as soon as you arrive at an Indian airport. Your first expediture in India shall be to pay for your taxi from the airport to the hotel. (More on this below.)
3. If you are travelling from Africa or South America, you may be required to furnish a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate. Please make sure you have this handy.
4. Please do not forget to carry a print-out of the complete address of your hotel. You may be asked for this at the immigration desk, and it shall be handy to instruct your taxi driver.

1. Currency exchange: After collecting your bags and moving past customs, you'll be in the arrival lounge leading to the final exit from the airport building. In this arrival area, you'll find a Foreign Exchange counter. Opposite it is a CitiBank ATM as well.
2. Our volunteers shall be in the arrival area of the Bangalore airpor, tin a booth bearing the ICORS logo, situated in the building before the exit gates 7 and 8. They shall be present on the nights of the 11th and the 12th of August from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please look for them. They shall be able to guide you to the taxis. Please do not respond to touts who approach you with a taxi offer.
3. Taxi: You can safely take an airport taxi to your accommodation. The typical distance is 35-45 kilometres. All airport taxis have meters. You can ask your driver for a receipt. Tipping is normal, but, of course, optional.
4. Paying for the taxi: Please remember the taxi charges must be paid in Indian Rupees only. The typical fare for the aforesaid distance can range from Rupees 800 to 1200. Please keep at least this much money handy in different denominations.
